But first a quick SquareHue introduction. It is a monthly subscription for $14.99/month plus $5 for shipping ($19.99 total). Subscribers can opt to put their account on hold at anytime, which is a really great feature. (Glaring at you here Julep.) Each month subscribers receive three full-size mystery polishes curated around a theme. Since December of last year each month's theme has been a different city (New York, London, Tokyo, and Paris). It even benefits charity! Per the website:
"A portion of monthly subscription proceeds are donated for prevention awareness, the protection of victims and the prosecution of traffickers. It’s simple, you get marvelous nail polish delivered to your door and we donate to organizations involved with combatting human trafficking. We believe that together we can make a difference. You get, Hue gives."
April's stop in the Passport Collection is Amsterdam. Below is the only "spoiler" pic released before the box arrived.
Based on this image alone I was guessing that the polishes would be an orange, purple, and green of some kind. I was two for three.
At first glance, I really liked the colors and was intrigued by the duochrome. I was surprised to discover there was no orange polish since there is a lot of orange in the spoiler photo.
First out of the box is Beethovenstraat.
A bright green, listed as a high gloss creme.
Next is Kalverstraat.
Also a high gloss creme, it is more coral than appears in the photo. I really want to do some sort of mani with these two polishes.
Last but certainly not least, P.C. Hooftstraat.
Unlike the others, this is a duochrome with a blue/purple color. Very, very pretty.
Also included in the box is an offer for a free issue of Nail It! magazine. I will definitely be taking them up on that offer.
All-in-all, I really liked the Amsterdam collection. Good choice of fun, bright colors that coordinate well as a trio.
