Birchbox: June 2014

This month's box arrived while I was out of town. I couldn't contain my curiosity, so I peeked at the contents through my birchbox app.

The theme of this month's box is: Away We Go.

Birchbox has teamed up with Jet Blue to give away a travel certificate.

Inside is a quiz, which reveals one's next travel destination.

There are five possible outcomes: Austin, Chicago, New York, Portland (Maine), and San Francisco.

The back has more info on each destination.

My destination was Portland. No suprise there since I've been obsessed with Maine since I was a kid.

Sharing a pic and tagging as directed could win a round trip flight. Fingers crossed!

Bergamot & Ocean Aria Body Wash

"Made with sweet almond oil, this nourishing cleanser has a captivating seaside scent. In the shower, massage generously into damp skin and rinse away."

I don't love body washes, but this smells good. Looking forward to trying it.

Benefit Cosmetics

They're Real! Mascara

Sample size: 0.1 oz/30g (Full size: $23)

"Formula with all-day wear for lashes so long and thick, you may be accused of fakery. Gently wiggle from the roots to the tips of lashes."

I have received a few mascaras this month, but I am still looking forward to sampling this one. I've heard good things.

Caudalie

Polyphenol C15 Anti-Wrinkle Defense Serum

Sample size: 0.06 fl oz/2 mL (Full size: $62)

"An oil-free antioxidant serum that evens out and plumps skin while preventing wrinkles. Twice a day, smooth a dime-sized amount onto clean, dry skin before applying moisturizer."

I love this brand, but haven't tried this particular product. The sample, however, is really tiny. I don't think you could even get two applications mentioned in the directions.

Lifetherapy

Vacation Hydrating Body Lotion - Vacation

Sample size: 1 oz (Full size: $24)

"This paraben-free moisturizer mixes breezy floral notes with sandalwood and coconut. Smooth generously over skin. Book it to the nearest pool or sandy beach."

I really like the smell if this lotion. Any thing with coconut I'm in!

Miss Jessie's Original

MultiCultural Curls

Sample size: 1 fl oz/29 mL (Full size: $16)

"First formulated for multiethnic hair, this styler smooths and shapes curls of all types. Apply generously through damp hair. Scrunch to encourage curls. Let air dry."

I have received a number of Miss Jessie's samples, and haven't been interested in any of them. This is no exception, and off to the swap shop it goes.

Summary: I'm feeling ambivalent about this month's box. I don't love anything, but I do not really hate anything either. Except for the Miss Jessie's, I plan to keep all the samples. That's a win, no?
