Birchbox: March 2014

Today was a good mail day: two eDivv swap items and my March birchbox! I will admit, I peeked at the contents of my box a couple days ago. The excitement was just too much, and I couldn't resist...

The theme of this month's box is: Spring Forward, and is all about maximizing your daily routine.

The flip side has the info on the products in the box.

First on the list:

Air Repair
Rescue Balm
Sample size: unknown (Full size: $12)

"Balms away! This all-natural salve repairs dry, cracked skin anywhere on the body. Dab onto chapped lips, cuticles, hands, elbows, and knees."

I'm marginally intrigued by this product, but mostly it is a disappointment for me. The little tube is small, as you can tell in the picture. It makes my thumb look like a giant's thumb. I listed this on eDivv.com and am hoping to swap it for something I like better.

COOLA
Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face
Sample size: 0.17 fl oz/5 ml (Full size: $36)

"Organic tinted moisturizer with lasting sun protection that evens tone and masks flaws. Smooth a thin layer onto clean skin."

Another miss for me. I am not very interested in skin care products, and especially not products that are tinted. This item has also been added to my eDivv shop.

Curly Hair Solutions
Curl Keeper
Sample size: 1 oz/30 ml (Full size: $10)

"This water-based, weightless styling lotion keeps curls shiny, defined, and frizz-free. Comb through wet hair from roots to ends."

My hair is more wavy than curly, so again not very interesting to me. This sample is also heading to the eDivv store.

Vasanti Cosmetics
BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator
Sample size: 20g (Full size: $34)

"This customer fave mimics effects of microdermabrasion for a bright and smooth complexion. 3-5 times a week, massage a pea-sized amount into damp skin and rinse. For all skin types."

As with the other samples, I'm not very excited for this product. However, I will be keeping it and trying it out. B, my co-worker mentioned that she has received this in one of her past birchboxes and liked it. So, we'll see how I like it.

Mighty Leaf
Tea Pouches
Sample size: three packets (Full size: $9.95)

"Handpicked blend of organic tea leaves, dried fruits, and spices in a biodegradable pouch. Steep tea of choice in hot water using the directions on the packaging."

This product was listed as a "Beauty Extra" but I think "Lifestyle Extra" is more accurate. As seems to be the case the last few months, this extra is my favorite sample in the box. I'm always down to try a new tea. I received three flavors: Organic Earl Gray, Chamomile Citrus, and Green Tea Tropical. I've been on an Earl Grey kick lately, so I'm really excited for that one. The others are meh for me. I'll add them to the communical tea drawer at my office.

Ghiradelli
Cherry Tango Square

"Take a timeout to embrace Ghiradelli's Cherry Tango Square. After you try the unique blend of deep dark chocolate, tangy cherry, and satisfying almond crunch, we dare you not to do a little happy dance."

This sample is listed as "a treat from Ghiradelli." I enjoy their chocolate, and the flavor sounds yummy. Thanks Ghiradelli!

Summary: meh. Boring. Pass. I'm hoping my ipsy bag is better this month, because once again birchbox was disappointing. The beauty extra and chocolate treat don't count, and three of the four samples I am hoping to swap. Fingers crossed someone out there is more into skin care items than I am.
