Polish review: Nicole by OPI Roughles

As part of my March ipsy bag I received a new Roughles polish from Nicole by OPI. Described as a "textured, pastel polish" it dries to a matte finish. The color I received is called On What Grounds?

I was a bit hesitant about this polish - both the finish and the color. Now that I actually have it on my nails, I like it. The finish is a bit rough, the polish is aptly named in that respect, but after the second coat dried the finish isn't as sandpaper rough as it was with just one coat. It feels finer now; more like sand than sandpaper.

This is one coat of polish. If I had applied it a bit more evenly, it might have been fine without another coat. I wanted a more opaque, intense color though.

As you can see, the second coat really makes the turquoise pop. It is a lovely spring pastel shade. I couldn't get my camera to focus finely enough to capture the texture, which is a shame as it is so unique.

The speckles are a bit more pronounced in this picture. (Sorry, I haven't cleaned my nails up yet...) I don't know how often I would wear this polish, and I probably wouldn't purchase more from the Roughles line. The reason being, the texture does catch on clothes. I could put a top coat over it, but then that changes the texture - which is kinda of the whole point of the polish.

What do you think? Will you be trying Roughles polish?
