My subscription box history with Wantable hasn't been stellar thus far. I started subscribing in December 2013, and was pleasantly surprised by the speedy delivery. However, I was not pleased with the contents especially considering each subscriber fills out a detailed style profile and the box selections are based on those choices.
My first box contained a peony-colored giant fabric headwrap/band, a coppery heart ring (wrong size), and a grey leopard print scarf with sparkle added on the ends. I hated everything in the box. It was immediately sent back.
My next box, which was January 2014, had an issue before it even arrived. The company had an error and charged me for the box twice. It took a bit to have one charge credited back too, but this delay may have been my bank's fault. Wantable included an extra item as an apology for the double charge. When the box arrived, it contained: a gold stretchy bracelet which was heavy and ugly; silver chandelier-style earring which looked really cheap and low quality; a necklace that I can't even remember at this point; and a silver anchor bracelet which was cute but a little too big, and not worth the cost of keeping it. The bonus item was a cheapy pink glitter make-up bag. It was really small. That box too went back.
Needless to say, my expectations for February's box were not high. The only reason I haven't cancelled is because each box can be returned for a full-refund, and Wantable pays for the return shipping. I keep hoping that they are working out the kinks and will improve, and with this month's box I think they are heading in the right direction.
There were four items in the box. Unlike previous boxes the items came in velvet bags with snap closures rather than in plastic jewelry bags.
The items in the order of least favorite to love it:
Delilah necklace
($18 retail value)
"The Delilah Necklace features triangular pyramid accents in brushed gold tone. Style Tip: This spiked beauty would be perfect with a bright tee and structured jacket."
Back view:
I like the style, but the quality seems cheap. It's hard to tell in the photo, but the clasp especially feels like poor quality.
Definitely not an item I would have purchased, especially for $18.
Andrea necklace
($24 retail value)
Close-up:
I like this necklace, but don't love it. I can see wearing it to work though.
Natalia bracelet
($18 retail value)
"Slip on the Natalia Bracelet set featuring a trio of multi toned metallic bangles. The sleek multi tone metal makes this classic design something elegantly modern. Style Tip: These bangles are a great addition to any outfit from office attire to an elegant cocktail dress."
I like bangles, and really love that this bracelet can be worn as one piece or three separate pieces. The multi tone is great too. I have been really digging rose gold lately, and love the wave design. My only complaint is I worry the finish could chip or peel. I wore them to work and received a number of compliments on them.
Eternity earrings
($18 retail value)
I love these earrings! That are completely my style and something that works both for work and play. Really love the hammered look of the metal. This piece alone made me want to keep the box. I plan to wear them to an important work meeting I have on the horizon.
Summary: I love two of the four pieces, and think the other two are okay. Per Wantable, the retail value of the box is $78 - which I think is a bit high. I paid $36 as a monthly subscriber ($40 for non-subscribers), so I feel that I broke even as that is the listed retail value of the two items I like. I'm happy with this month's box and look forward to March's selections.
